New Freephone Number for Patients to book Non Emergency Patient Transport
In response to public feedback, a new free phone telephone number has been put in place with immediate effect and this is the number patients should call to book patient transport in North and North East Lincolnshire 0808 164 3030.
Thames Ambulance has a dedicated freephone booking number for providers only which is 0808 164 3031
North and North East Lincolnshire ICB would like to remind people that the service is available only to eligible patients.
Patients are advised to book transport no earlier than two weeks before their appointment. This reduces the likelihood of the booking needing to be cancelled due to a change in the clinic appointment. Whilst we understand patients want to be organised, booking earlier does not mean patients are more likely to be able to secure transport. All patients eligible for transport will receive transport.
Patients are also reminded to have their NHS number and GP practice details when ringing the Thames Ambulance call centre.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service to deliver non-emergency patient transport in North Lincolnshire
NHS North Lincolnshire has appointed Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS), to deliver its non-emergency patient transport from Saturday, 7th March 2020.
NHS-funded non-emergency patient transport is available for eligible people whose medical condition means that they are unable to attend their appointments by other means.
This also includes eligible patients who need to attend hospital outpatient clinics and community-based healthcare, are being discharged from hospital or need regular treatment such as chemotherapy or renal dialysis.
YAS already provides a patient transport service in a number of areas and has significant experience in non-emergency patient transport. YAS will be working in collaboration with neighbouring East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS).
Patients who have already booked transport do not need to do anything. Patients who have not yet made a booking and need to travel after 7th March can do so from Wednesday, 4th March. They should contact YAS’s booking line direct on 0300 330 2000. Bookings can be requested between 8.00am and 6.00pm.
The eligibility criteria for this service is not changing.
